Summary
- Whether a ticket can be refunded or changed depends on the fare rules. We show you those rules in writing before you pay.
- Travel Globe does not add its own fee for cancellations, changes or refunds. Any penalty comes from the airline’s fare rules.
- Booked at least 7 days before departure? In most cases you can cancel within 24 hours of purchase for a full refund.
- If the airline cancels or significantly changes your flight and you don’t accept the alternative, you are entitled to a refund to your original payment method.
- Refunds go back to the card used for the purchase.
1. Who processes your refund
Depending on the booking, your card is charged either by Travel Globe Technologies LLC or directly by the airline. Your written itinerary says which before you pay, and the charge on your card statement shows the same name.
- If Travel Globe charged your card, we are the merchant of record and we issue any refund that is due directly to your card.
- If the airline charged your card, the airline is the merchant of record and issues the refund. We submit the request to the airline for you, follow up until it is resolved, and keep you informed.
2. Before your ticket is issued
If you decide not to go ahead before your ticket is issued, or if we cannot issue the ticket at the price you approved, you will not be charged. Any amount already charged is refunded in full.
3. Cancelling within 24 hours
U.S. Department of Transportation rules require airlines to let travelers cancel a reservation within 24 hours of booking without penalty when the booking is made at least 7 days before departure. Some airlines instead offer to hold a reservation for 24 hours without payment.
If your booking qualifies, contact us within 24 hours of your purchase and we will cancel it and arrange a full refund of the amount paid, including taxes. Call us any time (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) or email support@travelglobetechnologies.com with your confirmation code. Your request counts from the time your email reaches us. Bookings made less than 7 days before departure follow the fare rules.
4. Cancelling after 24 hours
After the 24-hour window, what you get back depends on your fare:
- Refundable fares: refunded to your original payment method, minus any cancellation penalty in the fare rules.
- Non-refundable fares: no cash refund. Many airlines issue a travel credit or let you change the ticket for a fee and/or the fare difference (see Airline credits). Some basic-economy and low-cost fares have no value once cancelled.
- Government taxes and fees: some may be refundable even on a non-refundable fare, if you did not travel. We will request any amount that can be refunded.
You must cancel before the scheduled departure of your first flight. A ticket not cancelled before departure may lose all its value (see No-shows).
5. Changing your flights
Changes to dates, times or routes are allowed only if the fare rules permit them. When a change is allowed, you pay any airline change fee in the fare rules plus any difference in fare. We give you the total in writing and get your approval before charging anything. Travel Globe does not add its own change fee.
6. Airline cancellations and significant changes
If the airline cancels your flight or makes a significant change to it, and you choose not to travel or not to accept the alternative offered, you are entitled to a refund of the ticket price, including taxes and fees, to your original payment method. This applies to every fare type, including non-refundable fares.
Under U.S. Department of Transportation rules, significant changes include, for example:
- departure or arrival moved by 3 or more hours on a domestic itinerary, or 6 or more hours on an international one;
- a change of departure or arrival airport, or a connection at a different airport;
- more connections than the original itinerary; or
- a downgrade to a lower class of service.
When we learn of a cancellation or significant change, we contact you to explain your options: accepting the airline’s alternative, rebooking, or taking a refund. You can also contact us yourself.
7. No-shows and unused flights
If you miss a flight without cancelling beforehand, the airline may cancel the rest of your itinerary, including the return, and the ticket may lose its value. If you won’t make a flight, contact us or the airline before departure.
8. How and when refunds are paid
- Refunds go to the original form of payment. We cannot refund to a different card or person.
- When Travel Globe is the merchant of record, we issue refunds for credit card purchases within 7 business days after the refund becomes due, and for other payment methods within 20 calendar days, as U.S. Department of Transportation rules require.
- When the airline is the merchant of record, the airline issues the refund on its own timeline under the same rules. We submit your request promptly and follow up.
- After a refund is issued, your card issuer may take a few days to post it to your account.
- We send you an email confirming the refund amount and the date it was issued.
9. Airline credits
When an airline issues a travel credit or voucher instead of a refund, the airline’s rules apply: who can use it, the expiry date and any fees. We tell you the credit’s value and expiry date, and we can use it toward a new booking with that airline.
10. Name corrections and booking errors
Check your itinerary and e-ticket as soon as you receive them. If we made an error, such as a wrong date or misspelled name that does not match what you gave us, we will fix it at no cost to you, or cancel the booking and refund it in full if it cannot be fixed. Corrections needed because the information you gave was wrong are subject to the airline’s rules and may involve airline fees.
11. How to request a cancellation or refund
